We asked each team member to reflect and talk about their achievements and highlights throughout the past year
Increases in the demand for our services rose dramatically due to the ongoing Covid-19 situation. Leading the amazing team, we were able to help meet the needs of many individuals and families. I feel very privileged and blessed to have the opportunity to support TEAM MECA (Staff, volunteers and students) through this challenging year so that we as TEAM MECA are united and ready to serve the community with joy and understanding.
Australian Citizenship was an area where we had great wins. Our Citizenship program has been very popular with an average of two clients passing the citizenship test every week. We advocated for permanent residency for five of our clients and we were successful in securing their visas. Did I mention that I started to lose some weight during all these achieving.
Tackling COVID-19 challenges and hurdles with the aid of technology to deliver an Online HomeWork Support program initiative with a success and an effort to deliver the overwhelmingly successful School Holiday Programs while continuing to fight COVID and support the community during these difficult times was a milestone. Achievement lies when parents were visibly grateful and children were delighted with these efforts to continue with the programs with Innovation and Technology. That's the success
Working with clients during this situation has proved to be very challenging. There has been a sense of disengagement within the local community as we were not able to run our usual classes. One of these classes is the Women's Sewing program. A priority was to keep these women motivated and connected so not to feel the effects of isolation and loneliness. Weekly contact was maintained through popular technologies and it was very rewarding seeing these women empowered by their new found skills and confidence.
